In February 2021, I took part in a hackathon with three other people. Over one weekend, we built a VR Quidditch game inspired by J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter universe.
The Idea
We wanted to recreate Quidditch in VR: flying on broomsticks, chasing the golden snitch, dodging Bludgers.
Teamwork

Building a VR game in a weekend meant splitting the work efficiently. Two of us handled the coding and technical side, while the other two focused on art and 3D modeling.
Gameplay

Players fly through a virtual sky using VR controllers as a broomstick. We added hand gestures for throwing and catching the Quaffle, dodging Bludgers, and steering through the pitch.
Visuals

We designed a colorful Quidditch pitch with cheering crowds and obstacles. It came together pretty well given the time constraints.
Conclusion
This was a great hackathon project. We were surprised by how much we managed to get done in just a weekend, and the result was actually fun to play.
